Columbia student Lucien Carr befriended Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac introduced him and other Beat poets William Burroughs. Carr was also friends with a little disturbed David Kammerer, who was in love with Carr. If Kerouac and Carr to join the Merchant Marines decided, Kammerer flipped out and landed in a scuffle with Carr in a park, where he eventually stabbed Kammerer to death. There is more to the story, but that's the basic idea, which should make for a fascinating film, especially with this cast.
